Difficulty:
Easy: A hardy and very resistant praying mantis. Although it likes to be warm, it adapts to room temperature. Its added bonus is that it doesn't need any humidity adjustment.

Temperature :
25-30°C during the day, with a slight drop at night to around 22°C.

Humidity:
50-60% to prevent mold while maintaining a comfortable humidity level for molting.

Food :
Astyliasula Basinigra is a carnivorous predator. It feeds mainly on small living insects such as:

  • Flies (Diptera)
  • House crickets (Acheta)
  • Small grasshoppers (Orthoptera)

Reproduction mode:
Sexual reproduction. The male is generally smaller and more slender than the female. The female lays oothecae (egg capsules) after mating. Incubation of the eggs lasts approximately 4 to 6 weeks depending on the temperature. The larvae go through several larval stages before becoming adult mantises (imago).
