Purchase "Pinkies" fly maggots

Pinkie maggots are fly larvae that are particularly popular as a food for praying mantises and certain reptiles and birds. Their small size and tender texture make them an ideal choice for young specimens and species requiring easy-to-ingest food. Rich in protein and easy to digest, these fly larvae are also used in the breeding of many invertebrates and amphibians.

The dose you will receive is approximately 25 cl or 125 grams. In volume, this represents a closed fist. This is more than enough for raising a praying mantis.

• • There's no point in raising these larvae yourself, as they're so cheap. It's not worth it on a private scale.
    
    Store them in the fridge at around 2°C in a ventilated box so they can breathe.

Breeder's Note

Pinkies are great for breeding praying mantises. Given in worm form, they'll quickly become the main food source for your small mantises around L3/L4, not yet strong enough for large cockroaches but too large for fruit flies.
Afterwards, you will give the pinkies in the form of flies (musca domestica). This is the praying mantis' favorite food! Flying insects stimulate them a lot, and some species will practically only accept flying prey (Sibylla Pretiosa among others).
To turn a maggot into a fly, nothing could be simpler: Take it out of the fridge and place it at room temperature. You'll have a fly within 2 weeks at the latest. It's therefore a good idea to regularly take out two or three pinkie worms to rotate and always have flies available.
